About

Welcome to the J2D2 blog, where you can keep up with the artistic, creative, and/or academic work of John Jennings and Damian Duffy.

We're graphic novelists (that is, we makes the comics) and curators and lecturers and students of the visual culture that permeates our eyeballs and brain meats every day.

We're also two of the co-founders of Eye Trauma Comix (along with artist/animator Dann Tincher). Eye Trauma is a collective of like minded comics creators putting out work that represents innovation in the sequential arts medium. (Go there to check out an archive chock full of awesome webcomics.)

Anyway, as John and I started putting together books and art shows, we decided we needed a face for the crossroads where our art, publishing, and business collide. Hence: J2D2.

J2D2 is John Jennings + Damian Duffy: Creators, scholars, and curators of comics, hip hop, and new media art, together they are the 4-handed creator of visual cultural warfare for the coming artpocalypse.

John, illustrator and designer, is an associate professor of graphic design in the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign College of Fine and Applied Arts.

Damian, writer and letterer, is a PhD candidate in the UIUC Graduate School of Library and Information Science.

Together, they have curated four major comics art exhibitions and participated in numerous others nationwide. They have spoken on a number of topics, like comics, hip-hop, horror, race, religion, and new media.
